Are You in School?

It sounds so lame, but when I was in college, buying textbooks online was almost unheard of. I remember talking to my sister about buying off Amazon. She thought it was a great idea. I was skeptical at best. And renting textbooks from a brick-and-mortar store? No one did that. (Geez, I feel like I need to put in my dentures and yell at some kids to get off my lawn.)

If you're in school and you're looking for an affordable alternative, CampusBookRentals.com maybe be just the thing for you. Book rentals are cheaper than buying and reselling (although if you've bought books and want to rent them, CampusBookRentals.com has a program for you, too). You can use the books as you would your own-- highlight, write in them, fall asleep on them in the library. Shipping is free both ways, and the company has been vetted and lauded by outlets like the New York Times. In addition, CampusBookRentals.com has partnered with Operation Smile to provide free surgery for children with facial deformities. If you like supporting businesses who support social causes, you may have found your business for your books!

Now, enter the February group giveaway! You do NOT want to miss out on $60 worth of prizes!

  2. Chegg is a great one to rent from too! I think they also sell books and I know they do buybacks too. They are pretty affordable and offer decent prices on their buybacks. For every book you get from them they plant a tree for you! I think mine were planted in Guatemala the last time I rented books. I highly recommend them! :)

  3. Good info! Too bad I'm on my last semester and didn't know of this sooner! I bought all my books on half.com. Saved HUNDREDS of dollars and never had a single problem. Best thing is, I go back on half.com at the end of the semester and sell my books for the exact price I bought them for and I haven't have any issues finding buyers! So in the end, I break out just about even after my four years of school (except for the few books that really intrigued me and I decide to keep).
